Clearing Cache & Cookies in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge • Fix loading, login, and display issues
Applies to: Microsoft Edge on Windows and Mac  |  Category: Browser  |  Est. time: 5 minutes

Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies often fixes pages that won’t load correctly, out-of-date content, or sign-in problems. Here’s how to do it in Microsoft Edge.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete in Edge to open the Clear browsing data dialog directly (steps 1–2 below).

Clear cache and cookies

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more (the … menu, top right) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  2. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
  3. Under Time range, choose a range (for example, All time).
  4. Check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
  5. Select Clear now.

Heads up: Clearing cookies signs you out of most websites, so you’ll need to sign back in. It does not affect your saved favorites or passwords.

Delete cookies from one specific site

  1. Select Settings and more (…) > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  2. Select See all cookies and site data.
  3. Search for the site whose cookies you want to remove, then delete them.

Clear cookies automatically when you close Edge

  1. Select Settings and more (…) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  2. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
  3. Turn on the Cookies and other site data toggle (and any other data you want cleared on close).
