Pairing a Bluetooth Device

Connecting a headset, mouse, keyboard, or speaker to your CRL PC
Applies to: CRL-issued PCs with Bluetooth  |  Category: Devices & Peripherals  |  Est. time: 5 minutes

Follow these steps to pair a Bluetooth device — such as a headset, mouse, keyboard, or speaker — with your CRL computer.

Pair a device

  1. Type “Bluetooth” in the search bar at the lower-left of your desktop and press Enter to open Bluetooth settings.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned On.
  3. Put your device into pairing mode — this is usually a button you press and hold until a light blinks. Check the manufacturer’s instructions if you’re not sure.
  4. Click Add Bluetooth or other device, then choose Bluetooth.
  5. Select your device from the list when it appears, and follow any on-screen prompts (some devices show a PIN to confirm). When it reads Connected, you’re done.

Device not showing up? Confirm it’s charged, in pairing mode, and close to your PC. If it was previously paired to a phone or another computer, disconnect it there first — many devices only pair with one host at a time.

No Bluetooth option at all? Bluetooth may be turned off in hardware or restricted by CRL security policy on some devices. Contact the IT Helpdesk if you need it enabled for an approved device.
