10.1. Exporting Your Edge Favorites

Exporting Your Edge Favorites
Exporting your Edge favorites creates a single HTML file containing all your bookmarks. You can keep it as a backup or import it into the same or a different browser — handy before a PC refresh or when moving to a new computer.
Tip: Save the exported file to your Desktop and give it a name you’ll recognize (for example, edge-favorites-2026-07-17). Even better, save it to OneDrive — that way the file is backed up and available on any device, so you can import your favorites on a new computer without moving the file around.
Export Edge favorites to an HTML file
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the Favorites (star) button on the toolbar, or press Ctrl + Shift + O.
- In the Favorites pane, click the More options (three-dot) button.
- Select Export favorites.
- Choose a folder (your Desktop) and enter a descriptive file name.
- Click Save.
Edge saves an HTML file (named something like favorites_MM_DD_YY.html) that you can back up or import elsewhere.
Prefer the address bar? Type edge://favorites and press Enter, click the More options (three-dot) button at the top right, and choose Export favorites.
Note: Exporting must be done in desktop Edge. The Edge mobile app (iPhone/iPad/Android) does not have an Export favorites button.
