Exporting Your Chrome Bookmarks

Take your Chrome bookmarks with you by exporting them to a single HTML file. You can keep it as a backup or import it into the same or a different browser — handy before a PC refresh or when moving to a new computer.

Tip: Save the exported file to your Desktop and give it a name you’ll recognize (for example, chrome-bookmarks-2026-07-17). Even better, save it to OneDrive — that way the file is backed up and available on any device, so you can import your bookmarks on a new computer without moving the file around.

Export Chrome bookmarks to an HTML file

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More (three-dot button), then select Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager. (Or press Ctrl + Shift + O to open the Bookmark Manager directly.)
3. In the Bookmark Manager, click the More (three-dot) button at the top right.
4. Select Export bookmarks.
5. Choose a folder (your Desktop or OneDrive) and enter a descriptive file name.
6. Click Save.

Chrome exports your bookmarks as an HTML file that you can back up or import into another browser.

Note: Exporting must be done in desktop Chrome. The Chrome mobile app (iPhone/iPad/Android) does not have an Export bookmarks option.
